Commercial property deals & cases of recent significance

• A pan-island team from Carey Olsen acted for Sandpiper in the sale of five supermarkets to Waitrose – three in Jersey and two in Guernsey. The deal is one of the biggest retail acquisition deals in recent years
• Acted for Legal & General Assurance Society on the sale of fully tenanted commercial office premises at SG Hambros House, St Helier.
• Acted for Legal & General Assurance Society on the sale of tenanted retail premises at 22 King St, St Helier.
• Acted for Four Seasons Health Care Group in respect of a long term commercial lease of nursing home premises in St Helier.
• Carey Olsen are retained by Quintain (Guernsey) Limited to advise on commercial leases for mixed office and retail premises in St Helier
• Acted for Long Port Group on the acquisition of an area of land for development into an industrial business park. The scale of the development is 16 acres (65,500 square metres).
• Carey Olsen has continued to advise on the development known as Castle Quay, culminating in the signing of a development agreement in respect of the construction of approximately 350 residential units together with ground floor restaurants and retail units. The firm is also advising on Jersey's largest mixed use development, known as Esplanade Quarter, which is set to comprise the construction of 16 buildings for use as offices, restaurant and retail units, residential and self-catering units and a hotel, together with a park and other public spaces.
• Instructed on the prospective acquisition of the largest brownfield site in Guernsey, comprising most of the commercial area of St Sampsons, in a development scheme that promises to create a significant amount of residential and commercial space. The five-acre mixed residential and retail scheme will be developed on a flying freehold basis.
• Acted as legal adviser to SandpiperCI in the agreement to sell its Channel Islands pub estate, drinks and tobacco distribution and brewery businesses to entities controlled by Legal and General.
• Acted for Comprop in the development and sale of prestigious apartments on the Admiral Park site, Guernsey and acting in all the office lettings on the Trafalgar site.
