About Us : Firm History

Carey Olsen was formed in 2003 following the merger between two prominent Channel Island firms, Carey Langlois of Guernsey and Olsens of Jersey. The former had roots dating back to 1898 in Guernsey while Olsens was, at the time, a relative newcomer having been started in 1981 by Advocate Anthony Olsen.

In 2003 both firms merged to create the Carey Olsen brand. While each legal entity remains separate in accordance with the Law Societies of Guernsey and Jersey, we work as a fully integrated law firm, offering clients a wide range of advice in each island and, as is often required, we operate on a pan-island basis.
