Carey Olsen is looking for an experienced Litigation Associate to join our Cayman Islands practice.

You will work as part of the team advising local and international institutional and non-institutional clients on complex commercial matters, with a particular focus on high-value commercial and financial services litigation, cross-border disputes and contentious insolvency.

Key Duties include:

  • Managing commercial litigation matters and discrete aspects of larger, complex matters.
  • Advising clients on contractual, tortious and statutory commercial claims, cross-border disputes and contentious insolvency matters.
  • Drafting high-quality legal documents and providing clear, commercially focused advice.
  • Managing client relationships and working closely with partners and other matter supervisors.
  • Managing matter budgets, deadlines, billing and fee recovery.
  • Delegating work to junior lawyers and paralegals and supporting their professional development.
  • Contributing to client relationships, business development and the firm's profile through networking, events and thought leadership.
  • Supporting the development of legal know-how, precedents and working practices.

You should bring:

  • 5–7 years' PQE in high-value commercial and financial services litigation.
  • Strong experience of contractual, tortious and statutory commercial claims.
  • Experience of cross-border disputes and contentious insolvency matters.
  • Qualification as a lawyer in a recognised common law jurisdiction.
  • A minimum 2:1 honours degree, with a Bachelor's degree in Law preferred.
  • Strong legal drafting, matter management and commercial judgement.
  • The ability to manage matters with limited supervision and build effective client relationships.
