Joey is based in Carey Olsen's Singapore office. She advises sponsors, investment managers and investors on:
- fund structuring and formation
- fund offering regulations
- fund management licensing and regulatory matters
Her practice focuses on private funds across a range of asset classes and investment strategies.
Joey has experience with both Singapore onshore and offshore fund structures and has assisted clients with due diligence for fund investments and investor negotiations. She has also advised clients on the establishment and operation of joint venture funds, as well as on fund acquisitions and disposals of investments.
Joey is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Career
Joey previously practised in investment funds teams at a Singapore member firm of the global EY network and at the Singapore office of a global law firm. Her experience also includes practising litigation and dispute resolution in a local Singapore law firm.

Relevant experience
- Advised a government authority on investments in carbon credit funds supporting mitigation initiatives across Asia, including projects and programmes involving the acquisition of ITMOs and MOs under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
- Advised a Singapore-based climate-focused venture builder and fund manager on its spin-out from an international venture capital platform, including the structuring of the spin-out, fund structuring and regulatory licensing for fund management.
- Acted for a regional private equity real estate investment manager in its separate joint ventures with a Singapore-listed real estate developer and a Malaysia-listed property developer, to invest in purpose-built student accommodation in the UK, including joint venture structuring, fund formation and sale and purchase matters.
- Multiple clients: Advised multiple clients on the establishment of, or investments in, open-ended and closed-ended funds using Singapore onshore and offshore fund structures, including the Singapore variable capital company.
- High net worth individuals and families: Advised multiple clients on regulatory and structuring issues in the establishment of single or multi-family offices, including the establishment of family investment funds and holding structures.
- Multiple clients: Advised multiple clients on fund management licensing and registration applications and ongoing regulatory and licensing obligations.
