Carey Olsen announces eight senior promotions

Carey Olsen has made eight senior promotions across its British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cayman Islands, Jersey and London offices.

Robert Coombes and Denis Olarou (both Cayman Islands), Matthew Ecobichon (Jersey) and Colin Masterton (London) have each been promoted to counsel, while Olga Osadchaya (BVI), Sophie Hancock, Oliver Lindop and David Patterson (all Jersey) have all been promoted to senior associate.

Robert Coombes has been a member of the corporate team since 2015 and advises on all corporate and commercial aspects of Cayman Islands law, particularly in relation to M&A and joint venture transactions, private equity and hedge funds, and listings on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.

Denis Olarou is a member of the dispute resolution and litigation team, specialising in all aspects of insolvency litigation. He also advises on general commercial litigation, including disputes arising from fraud, shareholder and joint venture conflicts, professional negligence, and contract and tort claims. Denis has also represented clients in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.

Matthew Ecobichon is a member of the Jersey corporate team. He advises clients, including leading international law firms and global institutions, on a range of structured finance transactions and high yield issuances as well as transactions involving Eurobonds and other listed securities.

Colin Masterton has been with Carey Olsen since 2007 and is a member of the Jersey corporate team, operating from the firm's London office. He specialises in corporate real estate and investment fund matters, and has acted on a wide range of transactions involving Jersey vehicles for leading banks, private equity houses and FTSE 100 companies.

Olga Osadchaya is a member of the BVI dispute resolution and insolvency team. She advises clients on BVI aspects of a variety of multi-jurisdictional commercial and insolvency matters and has particular experience advising in respect of shareholder and partnership disputes, breaches of fiduciary duties, injunctive relief and asset tracing.

Sophie Hancock joined Carey Olsen in 2006 and is a member of the Jersey corporate team. She has gained significant experience in advising funds, fund service providers and fund promoters on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues to do with Jersey investment funds and investment structures.

Oliver Lindop joined Carey Olsen in 2014 and specialises in advising Jersey businesses on regulatory compliance matters and international sanctions. A member of the firm's dispute resolution and litigation team, he also has significant recent experience of high value trust litigation and asset recovery disputes.

David Patterson is a member of the corporate team in Jersey, specialising in corporate structuring and finance. During his time with the firm he has developed considerable expertise in advising parties to large scale cross-border investments including funds through the use of special purpose corporate vehicles, partnerships and trusts, as well as becoming a leading figure in the development of Jersey corporate and regulatory legislation.
