Carey Olsen lawyer sworn in as Guernsey advocate

Carey Olsen senior associate John Scanlan has been admitted as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey.

Having successfully completed the Guernsey Bar exams and the Certificat d’Études Juridiques Françaises et Normandes at the University of Caen, John was called to the Guernsey Bar at a swearing in ceremony at the Royal Court earlier this month. John is a member of the firm's top-ranked Guernsey corporate practice, and joined Carey Olsen in 2012.

John advises both international and local clients on a broad range of corporate matters with a particular emphasis on the establishment, management, structuring and restructuring of both open-ended and closed-ended investment funds, private and listed, as well as advising on general corporate and regulatory issues.

Ben Morgan, partner and head of Carey Olsen's corporate practice in Guernsey, said: "We are delighted to see John called as a Guernsey advocate and congratulate him on his success in completing the Guernsey Bar examinations. Since joining Carey Olsen, John has developed a strong practice and he is a valuable member of our corporate team here in Guernsey."
