Carey Olsen is part of a team of legal advisers that has won the High Yield Deal of the Year award at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) European Awards 2016.

The Carey Olsen team, which included partner Simon Marks and senior associates Joanne Worrad and Matthew Ecobichon, advised Advent International, Bain Capital and Clessidra (as Sponsors) as to matters of Jersey law in connection with the debt financing for the acquisition of Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari Italiane S.p.A. (ICBPI). This included the issue of €1.1 billion fixed and floating rate notes by a Jersey public company and a €55 million revolving credit facility. Associates Bryony Bird, Rebecca Stevenson and Kathryn Hunt also advised on the transaction.

Carey Olsen worked with Kirkland & Ellis, who advised the Sponsors as to English, United States and New York law. The lenders and initial purchasers were advised by Latham & Watkins as to English, United States and New York law and Ogier as to matters of Jersey law.

Mr Marks said: "Being part of the winning deal team for this award reflects Carey Olsen's strong track record in advising on high yield deals. With a team dedicated to debt capital markets work, Carey Olsen has a depth of experience that has allowed us to assist sponsors with both legal and structuring matters alongside the leading firms we regularly work with in the high yield market.
