Carey Olsen retains top tier positions in Legal 500 rankings
Carey Olsen has retained its top tier positions in the Channel Islands across 13 practice areas in the Legal 500 UK rankings.
Legal 500, a leading source of information on the legal profession, has ranked Carey Olsen in tier one for six out of seven practice areas in Guernsey and seven out of eight practice areas in Jersey sealing Carey Olsen’s position as one of two leading offshore law firms practising in the Channel Islands. Carey Olsen’s London office also retained its tier one position.
The firm’s Guernsey office has maintained its tier one position in commercial and banking, commercial property, dispute resolution, insurance, investment funds and private client, trusts and tax rankings while employment maintained its tier two ranking.
In Jersey, Carey Olsen retains top tier positions in seven out of eight practice areas: banking and finance, commercial property, corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, employment, private client, trusts and tax and structured finance and securitisation and is in tier two for investment funds.
The publication recognised the firm’s "excellent, specialist service" and “strong regulatory experience” in commercial and banking, “unrivalled level of support” in investment funds, “notable depth of experience” in dispute resolution and described it as “consistently good” in private client, trusts and tax.
Guernsey’s investment funds team was highlighted for the ECM Equity Capital Management deal on the launch and final closing of German Equity Partners IV while the private client team were mentioned for advising on the impact of the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance legislation.
The rankings cited the Jersey property team’s advice to the States of Jersey Development Company on the redevelopment of the former Jersey College for Girls in St Helier as well as highlighting the corporate and commercial area of expertise for the team’s advice on the sale of FRM Holdings, a global hedge fund research and investment specialist, to Man Group through a Jersey scheme of arrangement.
Carey Olsen chairman John Kelleher said: "Maintaining our high rankings is testament to our ability consistently to deliver excellent client service across all practice areas.
“The real reward here is that it is our clients who have endorsed us. We are justly proud of the partnership approach we take to these relationships and the rankings are a ringing endorsement of this.”
Legal 500 rankings are compiled through a thorough independent research process which analyses information from the firms, competitors and clients.
