Carey Olsen secures reaccreditation as a STEP Platinum Employer Partner

Carey Olsen's Channel Islands trusts and private wealth practice has been reaccredited as a Platinum Employer Partner by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) – three years after it became the first offshore law firm to achieve the highest standard available.

As part of STEP's Employer Partnership Programme, which is designed to help employers maximise the training and learning of their STEP members, all accreditations last for three years before they then need to be reviewed. The programme outlines a set of quality standards that employers need to meet, while also providing a variety of additional support to assist organisations and enhance their employee's developmental journey.

Carey Olsen's Platinum Employer Partner reaccreditation exercise in both Guernsey and Jersey saw the firm go through a rigorous review process that included meeting with STEP officials and submitting relevant data and evidence that demonstrated, amongst other things, that the importance of learning and development is championed from the top and cascaded through the organisation, staff are encouraged to share knowledge and to learn from others, performance success is recognised and rewarded, and continuing professional development is planned, recorded and reviewed.

Carey Olsen counsel Laila Arstall and assistant HR director Gillian Gorvel led the reaccreditation process on behalf of the firm.

Russell Clark, managing partner and head of the trusts and private wealth group in Guernsey, said: "Carey Olsen strongly believes in investing in its staff and their professional development through training, guidance and supervision. The STEP Employer Partnership Programme is a demonstrable way to show this commitment. It's a challenging initiative that takes businesses through a very meaningful process and I'd like to thank our team, led by Laila and Gillian, for their engagement with it on behalf of the Guernsey and Jersey offices."

Siobhan Riley, partner and head of the trusts and private wealth group in Jersey, added: "To have once again achieved the highest accreditation available is particularly pleasing and shows that Carey Olsen continues to lead the way among offshore law firms as a Platinum Employer Partner and in its efforts to ensure our lawyers have the very best training and development opportunities."
