Carey Olsen starts building out Singapore litigation practice with new appointment

Carey Olsen has added to its Singapore litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice with the recruitment of associate Amelia Tan.

She will be joining the firm's new Singapore litigation team following its launch earlier this month with the lateral partner hire of James Noble, a specialist in complex and high value shareholder litigation, asset recovery, cross-border enforcement and insolvency.

Amelia, who is a British Virgin Islands qualified lawyer, joins Carey Olsen from another offshore law firm in Singapore and has a broad commercial practice with a focus on corporate disputes, shareholder related litigation and insolvency and restructuring matters.

Prior to moving offshore, Amelia was a senior associate at leading Singapore law firm Shook Lin & Bok where she gained extensive experience in international arbitration, corporate and shareholders litigation, trade and commodities disputes and insolvency related matters. She is fluent in Mandarin and has wide experience advising Chinese-speaking clients in complex cross border litigation and arbitration. She is also an active member of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation.

Commenting on Amelia's appointment, James said: "I am delighted that Amelia is joining Carey Olsen. With her extensive experience in offshore related matters in the Asian market, she will be a fantastic addition to a dynamic and fast-growing team across the region."

The expansion of a litigation, insolvency and restructuring offering in Carey Olsen's Singapore office builds on the existing corporate and finance practice and represents the latest milestone in Carey Olsen's rapidly growing Asia presence.
