Carey Olsen strengthens its corporate practice in Singapore with relocation of key partner

Carey Olsen has expanded its corporate practice in Asia. Recognised as a leading lawyer in the Cayman Islands, partner Anthony McKenzie has joined the Singapore team after relocating from the firm’s Cayman office.

Group managing partner, Alex Ohlsson, said: “Since our launch in Singapore last October we are seeing increasing demand for our expertise from clients, intermediaries and international law firms in Asia.

"Anthony's presence in Singapore builds on the significant experience that Carey Olsen has in the region and will further strengthen our relationships in Asia."

Consistently recommended by leading independent legal directories including The Legal 500, Chambers Global and IFLR1000, Anthony’s areas of expertise include regulated and unregulated investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and listings, joint ventures, secured and unsecured finance arrangements, preference share issues and capital markets transactions.

Anthony was admitted to practice in the Cayman Islands in 2007 and in the British Virgin Islands in 2014 and has been a partner with Carey Olsen since 2012. Prior to joining Carey Olsen he worked with Allen & Overy LLP in London and Australia and with Maples and Calder in Cayman.

Anthony said: "Carey Olsen has many years’ experience working with clients based in jurisdictions spanning from China to Japan, India, Hong Kong SAR and Australia. Expanding our presence in Singapore is a natural evolution of our commitment to our clients throughout Asia."

"Being on the ground in Singapore, and working from here to leverage the firm’s wider offshore experience, will enable us to provide first-rate legal services from a convenient, regional base. I look forward to working side-by-side with clients in their own time zones in this vitally important part of the world."
