Discrimination consultation now open - speak now or forever hold your peace

The States of Guernsey has launched a 12-week public consultation process into its proposed multi-ground discrimination legislation.

On Tuesday 8 July 2019 The States of Guernsey launched a 12-week public consultation process into its proposed multi-ground discrimination legislation.

As well as explaining the proposals, the consultation also seeks comments on the list of proposed exceptions to the non-discrimination provisions.

We recommend you review the consultation documents and put forward your comments and concerns via the formal questionnaire. The consultation ends on Monday 30 September 2019.

As this is peak holiday period, there is a risk of a low response rate. That is a matter of significant concern given that this is likely to be the most significant change in Guernsey's employment regime in two decades. We therefore urge you to take this key opportunity to understand what is proposed and to voice any concerns that you may have. Comments can be submitted on a confidential basis.

We will be hosting a series of workshops for employers in early September 2019. The workshops will provide an active forum for us to engage with you to discuss the proposed legislation and to enable you to raise any questions or concerns that you may have. Further details will be circulated shortly.

As our title suggests: speak now or forever hold your peace. If you have any questions, please get in touch with one of our key contacts.
