Groovy 70s-themed car wash raises more than £1,200 for Carey Olsen's chosen Guernsey charities

A 70s-themed groovy charity car wash has raised £1,228 for Carey Olsen's chosen Guernsey charities, Guernsey Mind and the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Volunteers from the law firm washed a total of 75 cars to the sound of 70s disco classics over a six-hour period, with many of the staff dressed up in 70s themed costumes and outfits. The team from valeting and detailing specialists RE-DETAIL also provided support to the cleaning efforts on the day. There was also a tuck shop for the day selling hot and cold drinks, sweets, and savoury and sweet treats to keep people fed and watered while they waited for their cars to be washed.

Lisa Bailey of Carey Olsen's Guernsey Charities Committee said: "We had an incredible day and so much fun. We are thrilled to have raised the amount we did for our chosen charities and are also enormously grateful to those people who brought their cars to be cleaned. We were charging a minimum donation of £10 a wash but many donated above and beyond that amount, which is amazing, kind and extremely generous."

John Moses, chair of directors for the Guernsey Bereavement Service, said: "Once again, Carey Olsen has shown its amazing support. Thank you so much to all the staff for the fantastic team effort in raising funds. The support provided by the firm not only provides monetary support but fills the whole of the Guernsey Bereavement Service with a great deal of satisfaction and appreciation."

Emily Litten, executive director of Guernsey Mind added: "We are very grateful for all of the hard work that Carey Olsen staff have put in. What an amazing amount to raise."

Guernsey Mind and the Guernsey Bereavement Service were selected by local Carey Olsen staff in 2019 to benefit from their fundraising activities.
