Litigation and insolvency specialist returns to Carey Olsen as London office partner
Carey Olsen has appointed litigation and insolvency lawyer Richard Brown as a partner in its London office.
Richard, who joins from the London office of another offshore law firm, previously worked for Carey Olsen in Jersey between 2015 and 2017. He is the second such recent partner appointment for the firm in London, following the addition of Jasmine Amaria as a Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands (BVI) corporate partner at the beginning of this year.
Richard's practice focusses on international insolvency, fraud and asset recovery as well as contentious trust matters. He has a wealth of experience of both pre-action measures such as freezing injunctions and third-party disclosure applications, as well as conducting cases through to trial and enforcement. Although a solicitor by background, Richard has represented clients as an advocate in matters before both the BVI Commercial Court and the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal. Prior to moving offshore in 2013, Richard practised for eight years at Hogan Lovells in London.
Ben Mays, head of Carey Olsen's BVI dispute resolution and litigation group, said: "I am delighted that Richard is returning to Carey Olsen as a partner in our London office. He is a highly respected lawyer and someone who enjoys a great reputation in the legal industry, which makes him the perfect individual to lead our BVI dispute resolution and litigation practice in London."
Commenting on his appointment, Richard added: "I am very pleased to be rejoining Carey Olsen and look forward to growing the BVI litigation practice in London and supporting the firm's excellent team of BVI lawyers in the BVI, London, Hong Kong and across its international offices."
