Two new charities added to Carey Olsen and ArtHouse Jersey's Artist in Residence Programme

Carey Olsen is the proud sponsor of ArtHouse Jersey's 'Artist in Residence Programme', an initiative that matches local artists with Jersey charities. Recently, two new charities have joined the programme, Mind Jersey and JAAR.

The initiative, which began in June this year, has already supported Jersey charities Brighter Futures and La Passerelle, and aims to provide a safe space for people to engage with the arts, express themselves and build confidence. It sees ArtHouse Jersey look to match an artist's unique skill set to the particular needs of the partner charity, creating a bespoke artistic experience for all involved.

Following on from the success of the programme with Brighter Futures and La Passerelle, Carey Olsen is delighted to be sponsoring two additional charities that have joined the programme, Mind Jersey and JAAR.

Mind Jersey provides support to people living with mental illness. The vision of the charity is a  society that promotes and protects good mental health for all. ArtHouse Jersey has paired this charity with local artist Anna Shipley who will be running a series of sketchbook workshops this autumn.

JAAR is an independent and confidential service that aims to prevent and heal the trauma of sexual violence. It has a dedicated helpline, website and on-site counselling with specialist counsellors and psychotherapists. ArtHouse Jersey has connected the charity with artist Shelley Godden who is providing pottery workshops to the group.

Siobhan Riley, partner and head of Carey Olsen's Jersey trusts and private wealth practice, said of supporting the project: "We have been so proud to be the sponsors of ArtHouse Jersey's current Artist in Residence Programme and have been highly impressed with the work we have seen produced so far. The project continues to make a positive difference to our local community and provides a valuable outlet and resource for important causes within Jersey's charitable sector such as Mind Jersey and Jersey Action Against Rape."
