Alan Hughes


Over a career spanning 16 years, Alan has developed extensive experience advising a wide range of clients engaged in cross border transactions on all aspects of British Virgin Islands (BVI) corporate and commercial law.

Alan's areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, LSE (and AIM) listings of BVI companies, syndicated lending, project and property finance, corporate re-organisations and banking.


Prior to joining Carey Olsen, Alan spent time at Hempel & Boyd and eight years with Maples and Calder. He has worked with the world's leading financial institutions and law firms together with public and private companies on transactions spanning the United Kingdom, Europe, Russia and the former CIS States, the Far East and Africa. Alan relocated to our Singapore office in January 2016.

Admitted as an attorney and notary public in South Africa, 2001. Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, 2003. Admitted as a Solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands), 2003.
