Alexandra Gill is an associate in Carey Olsen's trusts and private wealth group where she advises on various aspects of fiduciary and trusts law. Whilst her practice covers a wide range of fiduciary and commercial matters, Alex has a particular interest and focus on data protection and other privacy-related issues, especially in light of the recent legal and regulatory changes. Her experience includes: drafting and negotiating data processing and data sharing agreements, as well as issues relating to data subject rights, data retention and data transfers outside of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
In her role as a member of the States of Guernsey's Working Group for Data Protection, she provided advice in respect of the Bailiwick's new data protection regime. She was also recently seconded to a global financial institution to assist with the implementation of their GDPR project in the Bailiwick.
Alex is a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She was also appointed in 2019 as committee member of the Bailiwick of Guernsey Data Protection Association.
Alex was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2014, having trained and qualified into the commercial law and data protection practices of Bird & Bird LLP in London, where she gained broad experience working on data protection matters and commercial 'transformational' projects (such as the implementation and negotiation of certain cloud solutions for a global bank). She moved back to Guernsey in 2015 where she worked for another offshore law firm.Recent Briefings
