Jamie Guyan
Associate
Jamie is an associate in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation practice in Jersey.
Jamie has extensive experience in advising on a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes, including: insolvency and asset recovery; commercial litigation; shareholder and director disputes; contentious trust issues, and banking and finance litigation.
Jamie has worked with small to medium enterprises and start-ups to large and multinational corporations as well as with individual clients and investors, and UHNW and HNW individuals. Jamie has wide-ranging sector experience having worked with a number of supermajor oil and gas companies in the energy sector in the north-east of Scotland, as well as with all of the UK's largest banks prior to moving to Jersey – where he also works with clients from the finance sector and trust industry.
Career
Jamie obtained an LLB (First Class with Honours) from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen in 2015, before obtaining the Professional Diploma in Legal Practice with Distinction in 2016.
Jamie trained exclusively in dispute resolution and litigation at the north-east of Scotland's largest firm, gaining immediate first-hand experience of a broad range of corporate and commercial disputes. Jamie regularly appeared in the Sheriff Courts of Scotland and First-Tier Property Tribunals. Prior to moving to Jersey in April 2021, Jamie worked for Scotland's largest firm in their employment and immigration team, appearing in multi-day employment tribunal hearings and advising international clients on the UK employment aspects of multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions, redundancies, and TUPE issues as well as guiding clients through the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jamie also taught the Employment module on the Professional Diploma in Legal Practice at Robert Gordon University in 2020, prior to moving to Jersey.
