Elaine Gray

Elaine is partner and head of Carey Olsen's Guernsey dispute resolution and litigation team where she advises local and international clients on commercial and trust litigation, employment, data protection, competition law and intellectual property matters. She is recognised as a leading lawyer in these fields and appears regularly in courts and tribunals at all levels in Guernsey. In particular, Elaine has acted in numerous cases involving allegations of breach of trust, fraud and professional negligence, both for plaintiffs and defendants.
Elaine was previously President of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce. Elaine has also been named as a leading lawyer in the Citywealth Leaders Lists each year from 2009 to the present date, she has also been recognised in Legal Week's Private Client Global Elite listings in 2021. Elaine is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPs), the Channel Islands Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a member of the Chancery Bar Association.
She was previously appointed to the Population Employment Advisory Panel as representative of Guernsey's financial service industry.
Elaine was appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Civil Litigation to the Guernsey Bar in 2018.
Elaine is a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E).
Career
Elaine qualified as a Scottish solicitor and notary public in 1995, before moving to the Cayman Islands in 2003 where she was admitted as an attorney-at-law. She then qualified as a solicitor in England in 2008 before being admitted as an advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in 2009. Elaine is a registered Image Rights, Trademark and Patent Agent. She was made a partner at Carey Olsen in 2015 and was appointed Head of Dispute Resolution and Employment in 2018.
