Elaine is a partner and head of the Carey Olsen Guernsey dispute resolution and litigation team where she advises both local and international clients on commercial litigation and employment, data protection and intellectual property (IP) matters. She is recognised as a leading lawyer in these fields and appears regularly in courts and tribunals at all levels in Guernsey.
Elaine has also been named as a leading lawyer in the Citywealth Leaders Lists each year from 2009 to 2019. She is also an adviser to the IP Commercial Group established by Guernsey’s IP Registrar.
Elaine is a member of both the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists and The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Elaine is also a member of the Chancery Bar Association.
She is a member of the Population Employment Advisory Panel as representative of Guernsey's financial service industry. Elaine is also vice president of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce.
Elaine is a qualified Data Protection Practitioner.
Elaine qualified as a Scottish solicitor and notary public in 1995, before moving to the Cayman Islands in 2004 where she was admitted as an attorney-at-law. She then qualified as a solicitor in England in 2008 before being admitted as an advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in 2009. Elaine is a registered Image Rights Agent and Bailiwick Patent Agent and also lectures on employment law to the College of Further Education in Guernsey.
