Carey Olsen announces third recipient of Bermuda Scholarship Scheme

Aspiring Bermudian lawyer Kaliyah Lee-Tucker has been awarded the 'Carey Olsen Investing in People' scholarship for 2023.

Carey Olsen has provided scholarships for each of the past three years to exceptional Bermudian law students who aspire to obtain a Commonwealth qualification overseas before returning home to join the Bermuda Bar.

Commenting on the scholarship, Kaliyah said: "I will be attending Manchester Metropolitan University in the fall to begin my law undergraduate degree and hope to receive my LLB at the end of the three years. I am determined to become a great lawyer one day. During my time at university, I hope to figure out which area(s) of law I would like to practice and thanks to Carey Olsen, I will be able to achieve this. The scholarship will help my mother and I greatly with tuition, housing and all other expenses associated with studying overseas. I am very honoured to have been chosen to receive the award."

Kyle Masters, partner in the dispute resolution team and member of the committee responsible for selecting the Carey Olsen 'Investing in People' scholarship winner, said: "This was a challenging decision for the committee as all of the candidates were excellent. Kaliyah stood out for being an extremely well-rounded, organised, entrepreneurial and dedicated individual and we are extremely pleased to award this scholarship to her. It is important to the Carey Olsen partnership in Bermuda to support promising young Bermudians on their journey to becoming lawyers."

Winners are selected by Carey Olsen Bermuda's Bursary Committee based on academic records, extracurricular achievements, career aspirations and need. The scheme includes work experience opportunities during breaks from university and an invitation to join our pupillage programme.
