Carey Olsen Cayman office is looking for an ambitious and personable Associate to join our Trust & Private Wealth team, advising clients including professional trustees, investment managers, family offices, and high net worth individuals, both locally and internationally, on non-contentious trust and estate matters.
Our award-winning business is overseen by the partners who have a broad private client practice, focusing on wealth structuring and estate planning, which encompasses the establishment of dynastic arrangements, the management, restructuring, and dissolution of trusts, as well as probate and testamentary concerns. The partners regularly appear before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands on multi-party non-contentious applications and contentious trust disputes, in addition to handling estate litigation and other cross-border private client disputes.
The principal duties of the role will include matter management and fee generation, engaging in marketing and business development, assisting in the development of the professional skills of paralegals, and manage budgets and deadlines on matters for which they are responsible to ensure that client expectations are met and all time charges are recovered.
Candidates should be Commonwealth qualified with 3 to 5 years PQE, able to cover the full spectrum of non-contentious and semi-contentious private client work including trust and supplemental deed drafting, will drafting, trust law analysis and advisory work, probate applications, wealth structuring and family office planning, and restructuring exercises.
Experience in trust and estate litigation including legal research, drafting of court papers and court liaison will be considered an advantage. Additional knowledge of, and expertise in, regulatory matters such as beneficial ownership, sanctions, and data protection would be welcomed but is not essential.
