Carey Olsen is looking an ambitious and personable associate or senior associate specialising in Litigation and Employment Law into our prestigious Litigation team in Guernsey.
Associates/Senior Associate will be expected to advise and represent both corporate and individual clients on the full spectrum of contentious employment matters in the Employment and Discrimination Tribunal including (relevantly) unfair dismissal, discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. Candidates with contentious (and non-contentious) discrimination experience will be highly regarded.
Associates/Senior Associate will be expected to undertake the full spectrum of non-contentious employment advisory work, in addition to to a quality and standard that is substantially 'partner/senior associate ready'; advising additionally on matters concerning data protection, directors' duties, corporate transactions, and population management & immigration.
This role will also require the Associate/Senior Associate to contribute to the development and maintenance of specific client relationships, develop the firm’s profile and business volumes in the practice area in which they work, including by participation in marketing and business development events, writing articles, contributing to legal publications, participating in podcasts, delivering client training and developing a network of contacts and relationships through a variety of mechanisms and opportunities. The individual should be comfortable working with a pan-jurisdictional team and working as part of a busy department.
Applicants should have an excellent academic background, be qualified in commonwealth jurisdictions with between 2 and 6 years' PQE and have the right blend of experience and ambition to get involved with a busy contentious and advisory caseload.. They should be a self starter and motivated, comfortable operating autonomously day to day under appropriate supervision. UK specific discrimination law experience will be highly regarded.
