Senior HR Advisor (VA809)

We have an opportunity for a Senior HR Advisor to provide an efficient, responsive, high-quality HR advisory service to line managers (often partners) and employees.​

Key duties include:

  • Provide high quality HR advice and guidance to managers and partners to facilitate the early resolution of employee relation issues including any grievance and disciplinary cases raised, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed
  • Advise employees and managers on the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures in accordance with Guernsey legislation and the Employee Handbook
  • Develop an in depth understanding of the nuances and complexities of the Guernsey office and practice areas that you support
  • Provide support on significant annual HR processes such as the salary review and bonus recommendations
  • Facilitate the co-ordination and documentation for all internal and external secondments and transfers
  • Where required, conduct the weekly HR induction sessions for new joiners
  • Hold relevant discussions with employees in relation to parental leave, retirement arrangements, performance issues etc. and provide the relevant paperwork/action associated with these tasks
  • Conduct employee exit interviews to build insight into reasons for leaving and where necessary help build a retention strategy
  • Coordinate and oversee the trainee induction programme, working in collaboration with HR Relationship Managers, Learning and Development, and our administrators to ensure effective planning and delivery
  • Assist with the running and co-ordination of various student schemes alongside the recruitment team
  • Continually look for process improvements and make suggestions that can drive efficiency
  • Produce HR reports from the HR system as and when required
  • Support other members of the business partnering team during busy periods and absence

​The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 4 years' experience in an HR advisory role
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be comfortable to engage and converse across all levels
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with initiative and confidence
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality
