Carey Olsen attending STEP Asia conference 2025
The STEP Asia conference is taking place on 6-7 November at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong. Guernsey counsel Joanna Caen will also conduct a briefing in association with Guernsey Finance on "Gold standard changes to trust legislation".
The theme for this year's conference is "thriving through uncertainty: wealth planning for future".
This event will involve regional updates on the trends and opportunities in Southeast Asia, Greater China and the Middle East. In particular, there will be a focus on emerging global dynamics such as cross-border mobility, evolving tax and regulatory frameworks, the strategic use of offshore jurisdictions, and the growing influence of AI and geopolitical shifts. It will also explore family-orientated issues including intergenerational wealth transfer, succession planning for modern families, and the professionalisation of family offices across Asia.
Joanna's briefing will look at developments around the world, with a particular focus on Guernsey, that offshore and other key trust jurisdictions are implementing in their trust legislation as at the end of 2025 and look forward to what to expect in 2026 and beyond.
In addition to Joanna, Partner Matthew Watson and counsel Rachel Yao will be also be attending.
