Carey Olsen's Kate Lan to serve as first offshore lawyer on YSIAC Council

Carey Olsen Singapore counsel Kate Lan has been selected as a new member of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC) Asia-Pacific (APAC) Council.

Following a selection process involving over 250 applicants across 40 jurisdictions, Kate will sit as the first and only offshore lawyer on the APAC Council alongside 55 new members due to serve a two-year term.

Now totalling more than 7,000 members from across the world, the recently restructured YSIAC Council provides a global platform for leading arbitration practitioners to develop international connections and share knowledge and expertise amongst arbitration communities.

Commenting on her achievement, Kate said: "It is a real privilege to have been invited to join the YSIAC APAC Council for the next two years. I look forward to working alongside fellow members to enhance outreach, strengthen engagement and share knowledge amongst international arbitration practitioners.

As the only offshore lawyer appointed as a member, I hope to bring a unique perspective to the Council and would like to thank the YSIAC for providing me with the opportunity to play a part in growing its global network."

Kate was recently recognised as a top offshore lawyer in the Asian Legal Business' Client Choice List for 2023, featuring alongside just 14 other practitioners including Carey Olsen Singapore partners James Noble and Helen Wang.
