Five Carey Olsen partners named among Lawdragon's leading Cayman lawyers

Carey Olsen partners Bernadette Carey, Sam Dawson, Chris Duncan, Peter Sherwood and Dylan Wiltermuth have been recognised for the second time running in Lawdragon's annual '100 Leading Cayman Lawyers' guide, which was first published last year.

Lawyers named in the guide are specialists in their field who have typically practised for 10 years or more and have significant on the ground experience in the Cayman Islands ("Cayman"). The selection process is based on nominations and independent journalistic research, including extensive analysis of lawyers who have had a notable impact on the region with their work on major transactions and expertise in the Cayman legal space.

Bernadette Carey heads up Carey Olsen's Cayman trusts and private wealth team, with a broad private client practice advising on wealth structuring and estate planning matters. She is also an experienced litigator, regularly appearing before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands on multi-party non-contentious applications and contentious trust disputes.

Sam Dawson is managing partner of the firm's Cayman office and leads its dispute resolution and insolvency and restructuring practice. He has more than 20 years' experience litigating high value commercial disputes, with particular expertise in shareholder disputes, merger appraisal litigation, insolvency and restructuring, and contentious employment matters.

Chris Duncan is a partner in Carey Olsen's corporate team and leads the firm's fintech and digital assets group across Cayman and the British Virgin Islands ("BVI"), advising on the full spectrum of fintech, crypto and digital assets. He also advises on applications under Cayman and BVI VASP regimes and helps clients to navigate requests and investigations from local and foreign regulators and authorities.

Peter Sherwood is a partner in the firm's dispute resolution and litigation team, advising on all aspects of insolvency litigation, general banking and commercial litigation, and non-contentious insolvency and restructurings. Peter is also a Fellow of INSOL International.

Dylan Wiltermuth has extensive experience on all aspects of corporate work, including joint ventures, IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, funds finance, and structured finance transactions. He specialises in public company work, private equity, financial services, and energy spheres and has spent many years advising clients on complex cross-border transactions.
