Bermuda
Our paid internships are designed to provide an insight into life at a leading offshore law firm. Students are given the opportunity to be involved in live client matters and to engage with lawyers at all levels. Our internships are intended for students aged 18 and over who have an interest in a career in law. Applicants should either be Bermudian or permanent residents in Bermuda.
Our Summer 2025 scheme has now closed. Applications for 2026 will open in November 2025.
Cayman Islands
Our two-week internships are designed to provide insight into life at a leading offshore law firm. Students are given the opportunity to be involved in live client matters and to engage with lawyers at all levels. Our internships are intended for students aged 18 and over who have an interest in a career in law, however exceptions are made for younger students (16+) who show particular promise. Please note that this is not a paid scheme, but a small allowance is awarded to cover essential expenses. Applicants should be Caymanian or be permanent residents in the Cayman Islands.
The 2025 Cayman Islands Internship has now closed. Applications for 2026 will open in November 2025.
Bursary Scheme (Jersey and Guernsey)
Our Bursary Scheme is primarily designed for students who are either studying law or about to embark on a professional legal qualification. In exceptional circumstances, we will also consider undergraduates who are keen to study law at a later stage. Students should possess excellent personal and academic skills.
As well as receiving financial assistance while studying, in the form of a term-time grant, you will be offered up to eight weeks of relevant and engaging paid employment throughout the year. These placements take place in all legal teams in the firm to provide a rounded experience of legal practice.

Work Experience Placement (Channel Islands)
Guernsey
This scheme offers one week of work experience designed to give students an insight into life at a leading offshore law firm. The placements are designed for students who have an interest in a career in law. You will be working with one team for the duration of your placement which will allow you to get an in-depth experience of a particular practice area. Students will have the opportunity to shadow client calls, discuss future studies with our Trainees and Associates, attend Partner led sessions, complete a research task and network with other students and Trainees.
The work experience scheme will run on two occasions in 2026:
- Monday 29 June - Friday 3 July 2026
- Monday 20 July - Friday 24 July 2026

Jersey
This scheme offers a set two weeks of work experience designed to give students an insight into life at a leading offshore law firm. The placements are designed for students who have an interest in a career in law. You will be working with one team reporting to a Trainee Solicitor for the duration of your placement which will allow you to get an in-depth experience of a particular practice area. Students will have the opportunity to shadow client calls, discuss future studies with our Trainees and Associates, attend Partner led sessions, complete a research task and network with other students and Trainees.
The work experience scheme will run for two weeks from Monday 20 July to Friday 31 July 2026.

Bermuda Investing In People Award
Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited invites applications for its 2024 Investing in People Award. Applicants must have Bermudian status or be eligible for a Permanent Resident's Certificate and intend to practice law in Bermuda after studies. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into an accredited law degree or other course leading to a Commonwealth legal qualification, which in turn will lead to admission to the Bermuda Bar.
The recipient of the 2024 award will be selected by a committee appointed by the Partners. The committee will select the recipient of the 2024 award taking into account their academic record, extracurricular achievements, career aspirations and overall character. The award is meant to assist with the cost of tuition fees, course material, and room and board. The applicant's financial need may also be taken into consideration. The committee will not grant the award to an applicant who will receive combined awards or scholarships of a value that will exceed the applicant's educational expenses.
Applicants should be available to attend an interview during the month of May. The committee will endeavour make a decision and contact the successful recipient by the end of June.
The recipient will be required to apply for our pupillage programme upon the completion of their studies. Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited reserves the right to require repayment of the award should the recipient be selected for a pupillage and decline the appointment.
