Carey Olsen Bermuda associate Matthew Rhodes named winner in 2025 STEP Excellence Awards
Carey Olsen Bermuda litigation attorney Matthew Rhodes has been named among the 2025 Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners ("STEP") Excellence Award winners, having scored one of the top marks globally for his essay entitled "Sham and Illusory Trusts".
The STEP Excellence Awards celebrate exceptional achievement, recognising the highest achievers across all STEP qualifications. The winners are top-scoring students who have achieved distinction level in either the 'Essay Route' or 'Exam Route', in addition to the highest-scoring graduates across each of the STEP Diplomas.
Carey Olsen partner and head of trusts and private wealth Keith Robinson said: "To have achieved distinction level in a STEP essay is a great achievement, let alone to have scored one of the top marks globally. At Carey Olsen we encourage our lawyers to take advantage of opportunities to develop their skills and expertise, and so we are thrilled that in doing so Matthew has been recognised by one of the most prestigious industry bodies in the trusts and private wealth sector."
Matthew Rhodes said: "I am delighted to have been named among this year's STEP Excellence Award winners. The STEP Essay Route has been a great opportunity to upskill and delve closer into some interesting issues in trust litigation. I look forward to working to full TEP qualification with the completion of my subsequent essays."
