We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join Carey Olsen. In this role, you will help ensure the continued growth of Carey Olsen’s Channel Islands practice teams across Jersey and Guernsey by developing and implementing a range of targeted business development strategies and plans, that align with and build on the firm's wider BD strategy.
This role is primarily focussed on supporting the practice teams within the Corporate and Corporate Funds groups across Guernsey and Jersey and associated key geographic markets.
The successful candidate can be based in either our Jersey, Guernsey, or London office.
Principal duties will include:
- Act as a trusted commercial adviser to partners, bringing market insight, pipeline intelligence, and structured BD execution to ensure strategy translates into measurable outcomes
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders and the wider BD & Marketing teams to translate practice-area goals and plans into actionable, revenue-generating activities
- Collaborate with partners and fee earners to strengthen institutional client relationships, support the practice group and firm's key intermediary programmes, and facilitate cross-selling opportunities across practice groups and jurisdictions
- Design, implement, and monitor business development plans for the Channel Islands practice groups guaranteeing activity is coordinated effectively and progress is tracked against agreed objectives
- Conduct targeted research into competitor positioning, market trends and regulatory developments to identify new opportunities across sectors, geographic markets and work types
- Provide rapid support for day-to-day requests and lead compelling pitches, RFP responses and client presentations — crafting persuasive proposals that win work and demonstrate the team’s strengths
- Work with the Marketing team to develop engaging content for campaigns, collateral, digital channels and other marketing tactics. Identify, evaluate and oversee strategic sponsorships and speaking opportunities at conferences and seminars and partner with the Marketing team to plan the execution and ensure maximum ROI of given events

Experience and Professional Qualifications:
- Experience of working in a similar BD role, preferably in an international law firm or professional services firm
- Experience delivering integrated campaigns, client development initiatives and thought leadership programmes
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders
- Project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative approach combined with the ability to operate independently when required
- Understanding of the relevant services, sectors and products within the wider corporate department (banking and finance, corporate and M&A, investment funds and FinTech) - or the curiosity and drive to get up to speed quickly
- Experience using management information (MI), market research, and CRM data to identify new business trends opportunities and deliver measurable campaign ROI
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
