Carly is Head of Employment in Carey Olsen’s Guernsey office, specialising in employment law, data protection and regulatory issues. Carly has over 20 years employment and industrial relations experience advising clients across all industries in various jurisdictions in respect of the full spectrum of employment related contentious and non-contentious matters. She has established a practice which services both corporate clients and individuals, seamlessly servicing both clienteles. 

Carly is regarded as one of the top employment lawyers in Guernsey and is ranked in Chambers UK and as a Next Generation Partner in The Legal 500 UK for Employment. 

Career

Carly qualified as a solicitor in NSW (Australia) in 2005 and as an English solicitor in 2011. Prior to relocating to Guernsey, she worked at Minter Ellison in Sydney, and has worked at two pan-island offshore law firms before re-joining Carey Olsen in January 2024. Carly previously was counsel in our employment team from 2017 to 2020 and she re-joins the firm after successfully building a pan-island employment practice at another offshore law firm. 

Carly is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and a Globis Accredited Mediator. She has an IOD Diploma in Company Management and Direction and is STEP qualified (at certificate level).

Carly regularly presents corporate seminars to HR professionals, executive management teams and Company Boards on the latest employment issues and provides bespoke in-house training sessions for employers. In addition, Carly has written extensively on employment law for both internal and external publications.
