Clinton is the managing partner of Carey Olsen's British Virgin Islands practice group.
Clinton has practised law for over 20 years and has significant experience in advising financial institutions, public and private businesses, high net worth individuals and their onshore advisers on the laws of the British Virgin Islands.
He advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions, financings and investment structures, including takeovers, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and public and private equity transactions. Clinton also advises on all aspects of BVI regulatory compliance and risk management.
Before joining Carey Olsen, Clinton was the joint managing partner of another major BVI law firm. Prior to relocating to the BVI in 1999, Clinton was an associate lawyer in the corporate group of Allen & Overy in London. He is a member of the BVI's Bar Association and the English Law Society and has served three terms on the Executive Council of the BVI of Registered Agents advising on new legislation in the BVI.
Clinton has worked with many of the world's leading lawyers, bankers, private equity firms and accountants on cross-border joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and stock exchange listings and has been named as a 'recognised expert' for corporate and finance transactions in several legal directories, including PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook, IFLR1000, Legal 500 and Chambers Global.
Admitted as an attorney in South Africa, 1996. Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, 1997. Admitted as a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands), 1999.
