Nienke is a member of the corporate team in Jersey and specialises in cross-border investment and collective investment vehicles. She has acted for many significant local and international fund managers, real estate investors and financial institutions on transactions with a Jersey nexus.
Her practice includes advising on the establishment, regulation and launch of investment funds, negotiating and drafting a broad range of commercial agreements and advising on the sale and financing of structures holding international real estate (such as Jersey property unit trusts).
Nienke's recent transactions include:
- advising Falko Regional Aircraft Limited (Falko), a market leading aircraft operating leasing and asset management company, on the launch and final closing of Falko Regional Aircraft Opportunities Fund II at US$650 million;
- advising private equity firm Epiris on the launch and final closing of its UK-focussed buyout fund, Epiris Fund II, at £821 million; and
- advising listed UK developer SEGRO on the acquisition by SEGRO of full ownership in the Airport Property Partnership from its joint venture partner, Aviva.
Nienke joined Carey Olsen in January 2016 after participating in the annual foreign associate program of Kirkland & Ellis and practicing in their New York office for a year. She trained and practiced corporate and commercial law with leading African law firm ENSafrica in South Africa. She holds a BAccLLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch and an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Edinburgh.
