Robert is recognised as one of Jersey’s leading funds lawyers. He acts for a wide range of boutique and institutional fund managers and has extensive experience in establishing private, expert, and listed Jersey funds. He is ranked Tier 1 in each of Legal 500, Chambers and IFLR and is in the Legal 500 'Hall of Fame'.
In addition to fund formation, he has particular expertise in establishing fund manager structures, including migrating fund managers to Jersey from other jurisdictions. Robert also advises on the establishment, financing and sale of Jersey vehicles holding real estate (including JPUTs) and the structuring and listing of REITs.
Career
Robert qualified as a Jersey advocate in 2003 and is an alumnus of Grey College, Durham and the College of Law, York. He is the author of the Jersey chapter of each of The Law of Private Equity Funds (Sweet and Maxwell) and The Law of Hedge Funds – A Global Perspective (Butterworths).
In October 2025, Robert was appointed as Commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
