Carey Olsen Bermuda crowned Bermuda's Best Employer for 2019

The firm, which only entered the awards for the first time this year, was also named the winner of the inaugural Bermuda Human Resource Association's Inclusion and Diversity Award.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, the RG Business Top Ten Employers programme is the island's most prominent awards event recognising organisations for their excellence as employers. Participation is open to all Bermuda-based businesses and requires organisations to complete a management survey, while 50% of an organisation's employees also need to complete an anonymous online survey that reviews overall employee satisfaction.

Global Research, Bermuda’s leading agency in market research, is then tasked with analysing the data to establish a 'Top Ten' of Bermuda employers for 2019. The 10 firms shortlisted by Global Research were honoured at a breakfast awards ceremony earlier today with Carey Olsen Bermuda claiming first place.

"We are only approaching our second anniversary as a firm at the end of this year, so it is an honour to have won two highly respected Bermudian business awards at this stage of our development. We were delighted to have simply made the Top 10 alongside other fantastic employers," said Carey Olsen Bermuda managing partner Michael Hanson.

"To then be singled out as the winner not only for employee engagement and satisfaction, but also in terms of inclusion and diversity is hugely gratifying and humbling. The firm has grown rapidly since the end of 2017 and now employs 25 staff, including 14 lawyers.

Michael added: "We've been fortunate enough to attract highly-respected lawyers from on the island as well as entice a number of Bermudian lawyers who had been working internationally to come back home to work in the local industry, all of which has contributed to us creating a unique, talented and diverse workforce that we are proud to be a part of."
