Carey Olsen named best offshore law firm at WealthBriefing European Awards

Carey Olsen has been crowned Best Offshore Law Firm at the prestigious WealthBriefing European Awards 2020.

Showcasing market-leading providers in the global private banking, wealth management and trusted adviser communities, the awards – now in their eighth year – look to recognise companies, teams and individuals which the highly-esteemed panel of judges considered to have 'demonstrated innovation and excellence' during the past year.

According to the judging panel, Carey Olsen stood out as the best offshore law firm in a number of ways: "With an on-the-ground presence in such a large number of countries when compared to many of its peers this firm demonstrated how it performs a wide range of complex tasks for clients. It also has a keen appreciation of the constant changes in the offshore landscape."

The award comes just a week after Carey Olsen was named Offshore Firm of the Year at the highly respected Chambers High Net Worth Awards.

Commenting on the firm's latest success, Siobhan Riley, partner and head of Carey Olsen's trusts and private wealth group in Jersey, said: "It is a great honour to have been named the best offshore firm by WealthBriefing and the independent panel of judges. Our strategy in recent years has been to extend the reach of our trusts and private wealth offering beyond the Channel Islands and into Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. We also continue to work closely with our colleagues based in our offices in Singapore and Hong Kong SAR.

"Together with our recent success at the Chambers High Net Worth Awards, recognition like this is testament to our commitment to excellence and delivering the highest level of service to our clients around the world."

ClearView Financial Media's CEO, and publisher of WealthBriefing, Stephen Harris, added: "These awards recognise the very best operators in the private client industry, with 'independence', 'integrity' and 'genuine insight' the watchwords of the judging process – such that the awards truly reflect excellence in wealth management."

Carey Olsen is also a finalist for both the International Legal Team of the Year and Contentious Trusts and Estates Team of the Year categories at the upcoming STEP Private Client Awards in December. With recognition in two categories, Carey Olsen is the only offshore legal provider to be shortlisted twice at a firm-wide level.
