Carey Olsen attending STEP Asia 2024
STEP Asia is taking place on 12-13 November at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
The theme for this year's conference is "staying ahead - astute and resilient estate planning", it will focus on issues that impact estate planning for families, taking into account inflation, world conflict and geopolitical tensions.
The event will involve regional updates on the trends and opportunities in South East Asia, China and the Middle East. In particular, there will be a focus on macro issues like tax transparency, economic substance, the role of offshore jurisdictions and compliance regulations. It will also look at family orientated issues such as protecting assets on divorce and succession laws applicable to a global family.
Guernsey counsel Joanna Caen will be speaking on the topic : "The flexibility of the non-intervention principle: when does the Court decide to do more than bless a Trustee's decision?"
Partners Helen Wang, Matthew Watson and Asia head of trusts and private wealth Rachel Yao will also be attending.
