Carey Olsen Bermuda gains Tier 1 Legal 500 Caribbean ranking for dispute resolution

Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited has been ranked across six practice areas, achieving promotion to Tier 1 in dispute resolution and maintaining its Tier 1 ranking in the trusts/private client category.

In addition, the Bermuda office of the firm has been awarded Tier 2 rankings for all other categories: banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; insurance/reinsurance; and regulatory and compliance.

The new Tier 1 ranking for the dispute resolution practice, which is now the largest litigation team on the island, has been praised as having "rapidly developed into one of the best dispute resolution teams in the jurisdiction" that is "a credible and, often superior, challenger to the traditional Bermudian firms" that provides "city quality service".

The firm has also been commended in client commentary as having a "superb team with real expertise, attention to detail, customer care and efficiency". Carey Olsen has been credited for being "the whole package" and "one of the most entrepreneurial and vibrant firms on the island."

Partner Keith Robinson has maintained his Leading Individual ranking and has been praised as an "incredibly quick thinker", "technically superb; the best court room advocate in Bermuda" in client feedback. Whilst Michael Hanson was noted as "a pragmatic adviser who slices through all the noise and gets straight to the commercial answer. Responsive and solution focused."

Corporate partner Steven Rees Davies, who is ranked as a Leading Individual in the corporate and commercial category has been praised as a "stand-out lawyer" with "unrivalled" technical knowledge. While Gavin Woods has been credited as "the go-to lawyer and trusted advisor" for his "wealth of knowledge" and "practical and efficient advice" as he maintains his Leading Individual ranking in insurance/ reinsurance.

Stephanie Bernard, who joined from Conyers in December 2021 and is ranked as a Rising Star in Legal 500, is noted for her expertise in estate planning arrangements and wealth management structures.

In addition, Kyle Masters has been promoted to Next Generation Partner in both dispute resolution and regulatory and compliance categories and has been commended for his "great technical niche". Counsel Ashley Fife has maintained his Next Generation Partner ranking in trusts and private client following testimonial of his "commitment to the Bermuda private client sector" as an "exceptional lawyer".
