Carey Olsen announces three counsel promotions in the Cayman Islands

Carey Olsen is pleased to announce that it has promoted dispute resolution and litigation lawyers Jasmin Davies and Jason Mbwake, and trusts and private wealth lawyer Katie Turney, to counsel in the Cayman Islands.

Working across Carey Olsen's dispute resolution, insolvency and trusts and private wealth teams, Jasmin represents a broad range of stakeholders in complex and high-value commercial and financial services litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud investigations, cross-border liquidations and restructuring and trusts disputes. Jasmin is admitted to practise in Australia, England and Wales, Guernsey and the Cayman Islands and has over a decade of specialist offshore litigation experience. She is an active member of the International Women in Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), INSOL and STEP and was recently invited to join C5's Fraud, Asset Tracing and Insolvency Next Gen Committee.

Based in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation team, Jason Mbwake focuses his practice on contentious restructuring and insolvency matters, complex commercial litigation and regulatory and white-collar crime investigations. He has extensive experience advising a broad range of stakeholders in distressed situations, including financial institutions, investment funds, bondholders, ad hoc committees, corporate debtors, directors and insolvency practitioners. Jason was selected for and completed the INSOL Future Leaders Programme in 2023. He is also a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association of the Cayman Islands (RISA) and the Young Fraud Lawyers' Association.

Katie Turney is a qualified Trusts and Estates Practitioner (TEP) with a strong foundation in traditional private client work. She advises high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, beneficiaries, trustees, executors and other fiduciaries across contentious and non-contentious trust and estate matters. Katie advises on wills and estate planning, often with a cross-border aspect, and wealth structuring, including the creation, restructuring and termination of trusts and foundation companies. A full member of STEP, Katie is also a member of the Contentious Trusts and Estates Special Interest Group and has been elected its Global Steering Committee. Katie was also elected as a member of the STEP Cayman Islands Branch Council in June 2026.

Carey Olsen Cayman Islands managing partner, Sam Dawson, said: "Jasmin, Jason and Katie are highly talented lawyers who have established strong reputations with both clients and colleagues. Their promotions to counsel are well deserved and reflect the depth of expertise across our growing Cayman Islands litigation and trusts and private wealth practices. Congratulations to each of them on this significant milestone."
