Carey Olsen tops Chambers FinTech rankings in three jurisdictions

Carey Olsen's market-leading FinTech team has earned top Band 1 rankings in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Jersey in the newly released Chambers FinTech 2026 guide, with partners Steven Rees Davies, Chris Duncan and Chris Griffin maintaining their leading Band 1 individual rankings.

The rankings cap an impressive year for Carey Olsen in the FinTech space, with the team winning Digital Assets Practice of the Year at the 2025 STEP Private Client Awards and advising on some of the market's most innovative deals, including Echo's US$375 million acquisition by Coinbase, the Monad Foundation's Monad Mainnet launch, and assisting numerous clients including MS Pay, QuantFi and MoonPay to successfully register as Jersey VASPs.

In Bermuda, Band 1 partner Steven Rees Davies is praised as "a standout figure in the industry", with clients commenting that "Carey Olsen's ability to handle complex and sophisticated matters is truly exceptional". Further praise is included for counsel Charissa Ball ('Up and Coming'), who maintains her ranking for a second consecutive year.

In the Cayman Islands, Carey Olsen's FinTech practice has been promoted to Band 1 with Chris Duncan, partner and head of the firm's FinTech and Digital Assets group in the Cayman Islands and BVI, maintaining his Band 1 ranking. Clients noted that Chris is "one of the foremost experts in the field", and that he "stands out as being top of class in providing advice and counsel to clients".

In Jersey, the firm's FinTech practice and partner Chris Griffin both maintained their longstanding Band 1 rankings. Known as one of the jurisdiction's preeminent FinTech specialists, Chris is recognised as "the leading go-to expert in the digital assets and FinTech space".

Carey Olsen has also maintained its ranking in the British Virgin Islands, with Chris Duncan earning a new ranking and counsel Katrina Lindsay earning a promoted ranking. The firm remains one of only three offshore law firms to operate a FinTech practice in Bermuda, BVI, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey.
