Carey Olsen advises Permira on first growth fund and latest specialist debt fund

Carey Olsen's Guernsey corporate team has advised global investment firm Permira on the launch of its debut growth fund, Permira Growth Opportunities I.

The Guernsey closed-ended authorised fund is seeking non-controlling stakes in growth-focussed, established technology, fintech and other tech-enabled businesses.

The Carey Olsen team advising Permira on all Guernsey aspects of the fund's establishment and fundraising was led by partner Tom Carey and assisted by senior associates Matt Brehaut and Vaishali Gupta and associate Nick Jehan. They worked alongside lead counsel Fried Frank (Washington, DC) whose team was led by partner Richard Ansbacher and associates Alex Kaufman and Rita Muir.

The same Carey Olsen team also advised Permira on the recent launch and first closing of Permira Sigma V. The Guernsey authorised fund is Permira's latest specialist debt fund, investing in European collateralised loan obligations in both primary and secondary markets. Again, the Carey Olsen team worked alongside lead counsel Fried Frank (London), whose team was led by partner Mark Mifsud and included associates George Skerrett and Kayleigh Patrick.

Mr Carey said: "Permira has invested in European credit for more than a decade and is one of the leading European specialised private credit investors. Carey Olsen is delighted to have assisted the firm on its latest fund focussed in this area, as well as on its debut growth fund."
